I have come across a partial reference to an article written by the British painter and former actor Walter Sickert, entitled: "An Appreciation of Sir Henry Irving." However, I have not been able to find the article itself. I wonder whether anyone on this forum might know about this article -- where it can be located, or even what it says. Its publication seems to have been connected in some way with an event at the Tate Gallery in London. Also, I would be very interested to know about any documentation of contacts between Sickert and Sir Henry Irving or Ellen Terry. As you all may know, Sickert was a bit player in the Lyceum Theatre Co. from 1880-81 (possibly also in 1879.) If anyone has information on the plays and parts in which he appeared -- especially any plays in which he appeared on the same stage with either Irving or Terry, I would be most grateful to hear about it. Best wishes, Mark Starr [email protected]
