I believe this question has been raised before, but without success. However. I am trying to locate any information about these people, who may have been associated in some way with Irving and the Lyceum. If so, it was most likely not under their real names, since I have been unable to trace any mention of a Sarl in this connection. Joseph and Jennie were reputed -- in family legend -- to have been members of Sir Henry's company. Jennie was born around 1855. Arthur, their son, was born in 1880 and is said to have taken over some or all of the responsibilities of Bram Stoker after he left the company. Whether there is any truth in this I don't know but it seems unlikely. However, perhaps someone on this site will know enough to either confirm or refute these family legends. Incidentally, Arthur Sarl became a journalist, wrote several books and ended his career in the persona of Larry Lynx, racing correspondent of The People. He died about 1952. Thanks for any help you can give. Rob Kemp [email protected]
