Some readers may like to subscribe to (and indeed contribute to) the free on-line journal THE OSCHOLARS devoted to Oscar Wilde and his Circle. A new edition is published monthly; archived issues are posted at http://homepages.gold.ac.uk/oscholars

Notice of the new issue will be sent to all who register as a reader with [email protected]

THE OSCHOLARS, in collaboration with the Institute of English Studies at the University of London, is also hosting a one-day conference on 'Staging Wilde'. Details from http://www.sas.ac.uk/ies/conferences

Finally, I wonder if any Irving scholar has seen significance in the fact that the news of Irving's knighthood was published on the day of Wilde's sentence? Was this some attempt to calm the nerves of the profession that it was not all tarred with the same brush?
