Hello Kristan. If you know of the famous Pollock Victorian Junior Toy Theatres this was similar in size with a pros opening of about 18 inches by 12 inches high. The sort of set up for a drawing room entertainment with a child showing texterity to a family or friends gathering which we were on this occasion. Robert made and painted all his own figures. Some were idividual some linked for a group scene. Nothing stood still for very long. Some were reversible so that you had a different stand as for instance at the end of act one of The Bells with the transformation scene Irving facing audience hearing the bells flip and Irving with his back to audience staring with arms raised at the scene of his crime..... and curtain act one. I can't remember if Robert used thick carbord or a hard board to cut out the figures and scenes. One of the most efferective was the brocken in Faust with the build up in perspective gioving a great sence of depth. He was in shadowy view in a darkened room and light only on the stage area we could see him pulling the characters off and on all the time but really we were rivetted by the movement on the tiny stage. Would anyone else there like to add to this regards BC.
